How to receive and choose candidates
Here's how the process looks for every application you receive on your listing, step by step.
Step 1
Request received
You get a notification as soon as someone applies, with real answers, not just a bare „I'm interested” message. If you have several listings, each request is clearly tied to exactly one cat.
Step 2
Reviewing applications
You can review all the applications, message as many candidates as you like in parallel, and immediately decline those who clearly don't fit (e.g. the cat mustn't be alone for 8 hours and the candidate is away all day); with no need to justify it. If a conversation looks promising, keep it going; the other candidates keep waiting in the background as backup.
Step 3
Meet in person
When you settle on a leading candidate, you click „Choose adopter”; the cat is marked as reserved, but nothing is locked in: the other candidates keep waiting as backup, in case it doesn't work out. Then you arrange a real meeting through messages.
Step 4
Adoption confirmed
If the meeting went well, you click „Mark as adopted”; this IS final: the listing closes, and all remaining open requests are automatically declined with a note that the cat was adopted by another candidate.
Frequently asked questions
Can I talk to several candidates at the same time?
Yes. You can receive, read and reply to messages from as many candidates as you like, in parallel, before anyone becomes reserved. Reservation (one leading candidate) is the only action limited to one person at a time.
Do I have to give a reason when I decline someone?
No, the reason is optional. Some caretakers give one so the candidate understands the decision, but it's not required.
What if I change my mind after choosing someone?
Right up until you click „Mark as adopted”, you can cancel the reservation; the cat goes back on offer, and the other candidates who were waiting as backup are still there.
What if the chosen candidate stops replying to messages?
Cancel the reservation via „Cancel reservation”; the cat immediately goes back on offer and you can move on to the next candidate.
Why would someone send only a message and not an official request?
A message is often the first, no-obligation step before someone decides to formally apply; it doesn't commit them to anything, but it can be a good early sign of interest.
